I like the idea of people being able to edit and add information to a document. A lot of times people have valuable information to add. Having students make wikis as part of history research would be a good project.
At the community college where my sister-in-law works the tech team created a wiki where they kept track of what had been done in different labs, what was installed, problems and how they solved them, etc. You could do the same with an online productivity site, I would think, but those weren't as common at the time that she told me that. Having some sort of record that the whole team can access - and that would be there if you left - can save a lot of time.
